Dutch starts by attending every performance of Laura's stage plays, waits in long lines for autographs, and even sends her numerous fan letters expressing his undying love and admiration. However, despite his efforts, Laura remains completely unaware of his existence.

Frustrated and unable to cope with rejection, Dutch's obsession takes a dark turn. He begins stalking Laura, following her every move and collecting information about her personal life. Unable to bear the thought of anyone else being with Laura, he starts targeting those close to her, including her friends, co-workers, and even her love interests.
