"Oscar" is a comedy film released in 1991, directed by John Landis. Set in the 1930s, the story follows Angelo "Snaps" Provolone, an Italian-American gangster who has made a promise to his dying father that he will abandon a life of crime and become a legitimate businessman.

Snaps, played by Sylvester Stallone, tries his best to keep his promise but faces a series of comical and chaotic hurdles along the way. The film primarily takes place in Snaps' lavish mansion, where he resides with his eccentric wife Lisa (played by Ornella Muti), his daughter Theresa (played by Marisa Tomei), and a loyal group of quirky associates.

As the day progresses, Snaps encounters a range of comical situations that test his patience and commitment to his promise. These include his daughter's secret engagement to an upper-class man, Theresa's dog's misadventures throughout the mansion, an accidental bag swap at the train station leading to a series of misunderstandings, and the frantic preparation for a police raid.

In the midst of these chaotic events, Snaps also has to deal with his untrustworthy associates, such as his accountant Anthony Rossano (played by Vincent Spano) and his lawyer, Six Toes Eddie (played by Paul Greco), who attempt to ensure the smooth transition of Snaps' business into legitimate enterprises.

Furthermore, Snaps' attempts to secure a bank loan to finance his new business ventures are hindered by the presence of rival gangsters, led by Vendetti (played by Chazz Palminteri). These gangsters, seeking to take over Snaps' criminal empire, unleash a string of disastrous events, including an escalating war between rival factions, hilarious car chases, and an absurd shootout in an opera house.

Amidst the chaos, Snaps strives to salvage his reputation, maintain his integrity, and ultimately fulfill his promise to his father. Along the way, he discovers the importance of family, love, and loyalty, while encountering various colorful characters and engaging in rapid-fire dialogue.

In the end, Snaps manages to resolve the conflicts and outsmart Vendetti and his gang. He successfully transitions his business into legitimate operations, reconciles with his daughter's choice of partner, and brings a sense of order to his life. Snaps stands as a comedic example that sometimes, even the most unlikely of people can find redemption and change their lives for the better.
