Comedy   United States of America

David and Linda Howard, a wealthy and trendy couple living in Los Angeles, find themselves disillusioned with the materialistic and competitive lifestyle of their yuppie peers. When David's high-paying advertising job proves to be a major disappointment as he is passed over for a promotion, he is driven to make a drastic change in his life.

David becomes inspired by the counterculture film Easy Rider and convinces Linda that they should quit their jobs, liquidate all their assets, and embark on an adventurous journey across America in a Winnebago. They see this as their chance to break free from societal pressures, reconnect with their true selves, and discover the authentic America.

With a significant amount of money from selling their luxurious belongings, they set out on their liberating escapade. The Howards travel through various states, visiting iconic landmarks and experiencing the diverse culture of America. However, their romantic fantasies of freedom soon collide with the harsh realities of life on the road.

They encounter unexpected challenges such as engine troubles, financial setbacks, and encounters with eccentric characters along the way. The couple's initial excitement gradually turns into frustration and disillusionment as they come to realize that their dream of escaping responsibility and finding themselves is not as easy as they had envisioned.

While their original plan was to live off their savings, they find themselves drained financially due to unforeseen circumstances. They are forced to take odd jobs to sustain themselves, including working at a fast-food restaurant and a casino. These experiences highlight the contrast between their previous privileged lifestyle and the hardships faced by the working-class in America.

Throughout their journey, David and Linda also face personal conflicts and dilemmas. Their relationship is put to the test as they confront their own vulnerabilities and insecurities. They question whether their decision to abandon their stable lives was a mistake, and if they can ever truly find the sense of fulfillment they were seeking.

Ultimately, Lost in America is a comedic and poignant exploration of the pursuit of freedom, self-discovery, and the realities of the American Dream. As David and Linda navigate through the ups and downs of their adventurous journey, they learn valuable life lessons about the importance of responsibility, personal growth, and the true meanings of happiness and success.
