Comedy   United States of America

In the small town of Wabasha, Minnesota, John Gustafson (played by Jack Lemmon) and Max Goldman (played by Walter Matthau) have been bitter adversaries and grumpy old men for as long as anyone can remember. Their ongoing feud involves various hilarious pranks, insults, and petty competitions.

Everything changes when Ariel Truax (played by Ann-Margret), an attractive and vivacious widow, moves into the neighborhood. Both John and Max are instantly smitten by her charm and beauty, leading to a heated love triangle.

As John and Max vie for Ariel's affection, their rivalry intensifies. They go to great lengths to outdo one another, from sabotaging fishing trips to playing practical jokes on each other. Their relentless pursuit of Ariel not only escalates the comedic battles but also inadvertently brings them closer together.

However, their antics do not go unnoticed by their concerned friends and family. John's daughter, Melanie (played by Daryl Hannah), and Max's son, Jacob (played by Kevin Pollak), try to mediate between their stubborn fathers, reminding them of their long-lost friendship.

Meanwhile, a charming Italian restaurant owner, Maria Ragetti (played by Burgess Meredith), also becomes enamored with John, adding another layer of complexity to the romantic entanglement.

Amidst the chaos and confusion, John and Max gradually begin to realize the consequences of their actions. The love triangle begins to strain their decades-long friendship, making them question whether their pride and rivalry are worth losing their mutual bond.

In a heartwarming twist, events unfold that force John and Max to set aside their differences and confront their true feelings. They come to understand that their friendship is far more valuable than any romantic pursuit.

With the help of their loved ones, John and Max learn to embrace their vulnerabilities and let go of their grudges. Will they manage to salvage their friendship and find happiness in their golden years? Or will their stubbornness and pride ultimately tear them apart?

Grumpy Old Men is a delightful comedy that explores the power of forgiveness, the importance of friendship, and the potential for love and laughter in unexpected places.
