Drama   United States of America

In the 1930s, Tod Hackett moves to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an art director in Hollywood's film industry. He becomes infatuated with his beautiful neighbor, Faye Greener, an aspiring actress who dreams of stardom.

Tod befriends other aspiring artists and actors, including the introverted yet talented Homer Simpson, who works as an accountant. Faye, however, rejects Tod's advances because she is attracted to Homer's stability and financial security.

As Tod becomes more involved in the Hollywood scene, he witnesses the superficiality and corruption of the industry. He attends parties and events filled with manipulative and disillusioned people who are desperate for fame and success.

Meanwhile, Faye pursues auditions and becomes entangled in various relationships to further her career. She starts a tumultuous and abusive affair with a washed-up actor named Harry Greener, who happens to be her father.

Homer, unaware of Faye's affair, falls deeply in love with her and dreams of building a life together. He lavishes her with gifts and attempts to support her ambitions, but Faye maintains her interest in the glamorous and dangerous world of Hollywood.

As tensions rise, Tod, Homer, and Faye's lives become entangled in a series of events that lead to a tragic climax. The disillusionment and desperation of the characters reach a tipping point, leading to a violent riot at a film premiere, known as "the day of the locust."

The movie explores the destructive nature of the Hollywood dream and the lengths to which people will go to achieve success. It also delves into themes of loneliness, unrequited love, and the dark underbelly of the American Dream.
