Interiors is a 1978 film directed by Woody Allen. The story revolves around the Berger family, consisting of Eve, a controlling and emotionally manipulative matriarch; Arthur, her passive and obedient husband; and their three daughters, Renata, Flyn, and Joey.

The film explores the strained relationships within the family, as each daughter struggles to find her own identity and independence while being suffocated by Eve's overpowering presence. Renata, a successful poet, is in a failing marriage and feels overwhelmed by her mother's constant criticisms. Flyn, a struggling actress, is emotionally unstable and seeks validation from her distant and uninvolved father. Joey, the youngest daughter, is the only one who seems to have a somewhat healthy relationship with her parents, but she too is affected by their dysfunctional dynamic.

When Arthur leaves Eve for another woman, the family is thrown into further turmoil. Eve's fragile mental state spirals out of control, leading to a confrontation that forces the daughters to confront their own issues and resentments towards their mother.

The arrival of Pearl, a lively and free-spirited woman who becomes involved with Arthur, further disrupts the family dynamics. Pearl's presence challenges Eve's control over her husband and begins to influence the daughters' perceptions of their own lives.

Interiors is a powerful and emotionally intense exploration of the complexities of familial relationships, emotional manipulation, and the struggles of individual identity within a dysfunctional family. The film delves into themes of mental illness, codependency, and the search for personal fulfillment, ultimately leading to a poignant and bittersweet conclusion.
