In the movie "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter," singer is a deaf-mute man who lives in a small southern town during the 1930s. Despite his disability, Singer communicates with those around him using sign language and pen and paper. He forms a unique bond with a young girl named Mick, who aspires to become a concert pianist.
