In the movie TerrorVision, the suburban Putterman family becomes the unwitting owners of a state-of-the-art satellite TV system called "The Wave." Little do they know that a malfunction in the system causes it to receive signals from an alien planet called Pluton.
As the strange extraterrestrial transmissions start to infiltrate their television screens, the Putterman family initially dismisses them as a prank or a technological glitch. However, they soon discover that the signals are actually an interdimensional doorway, enabling bizarre and horrifying creatures from Pluton to pass through into their home.
Among the creatures that emerge through The Wave is an amorphous, green, and voracious carnivorous alien called a "Hungry Beast." This creature promptly devours the TV repairman who attempts to fix the system, leaving the Putterman family terrified and trapped.
Unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation, the Putterman family inadvertently endangers themselves and others. The family's rebellious teenage daughter, Suzy, brings her boyfriend, O.D., to the house to prove the existence of the alien transmissions. Meanwhile, the neighborhood swinger, Spiro, mistakenly believes the signals to be a new form of erotica and gets involuntarily involved.
As chaos ensues, the Putterman family must find a way to survive the alien invasion, protect themselves, and prevent the creatures from wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting outside world. With their eccentric Grandpa and a quirky neighbor named Medusa as allies, they embark on a mission to close the interdimensional portal before it's too late.
However, the Hungry Beasts from Pluton are not the only problem they face. The authorities, including a paranoid military organization led by Colonel Daddy Longshadow, become aware of the unearthly energy emanating from the Putterman household and attempt to contain the situation.
