In the town of Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night, Max Dennison, a teenager from California, is skeptical about the town's history of witchcraft. Despite warnings from his younger sister Dani and his crush Allison, Max decides to explore the infamous Sanderson Sisters' cottage, where the three witches were hanged 300 years ago.
As Max explores the house with Dani and Allison, he accidentally lights the Black Flame Candle, which was rumored to bring back the witches. Suddenly, the sisters, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah Sanderson, are resurrected. Determined to stay young forever, the witches need a magical potion made from the souls of children before sunrise. The kids must now race against time to stop the witches from causing chaos and chaos in Salem.
