In the movie "The Mirror Has Two Faces," Rose Morgan and Gregory Larkin are both professors at Columbia University. Rose, played by Barbra Streisand, is a highly intelligent and independent woman in her forties who lives with her overbearing mother, Hannah (played by Lauren Bacall). Despite her successful career as a professor of Romantic Literature, Rose feels unfulfilled in her love life and desperately longs for passion and romance.

On the other hand, Gregory Larkin, portrayed by Jeff Bridges, is a mathematics professor. He has been hurt in the past by passionate relationships and seeks a more platonic and sexless union based on friendship and respect. Gregory believes that a romantic relationship built solely on physical attraction is doomed to fail.

Their lives intersect when Rose's sister, Claire, posts a personal ad on Rose's behalf, seeking companionship. Gregory responds to the ad, thinking that a non-physical relationship could be a perfect fit for him. Intrigued by Gregory's intellectual approach to relationships, Rose agrees to meet him, and they begin spending time together.

Gregory sets up a series of intellectual challenges for Rose, testing her intelligence and wit. They enjoy deep conversations and shared interests, building a strong emotional connection. Rose finds herself falling in love with the kind and considerate Gregory, unaware that he is intentionally trying to avoid physical intimacy.

Believing that she has met her ideal partner, Rose decides to take their relationship to the next level and proposes marriage. However, she soon realizes that Gregory's intention was to have a sexless union. Feeling rejected and heartbroken, Rose decides to transform herself physically, hoping to gain Gregory's desire and affection.

Rose successfully undergoes a stunning physical makeover, becoming a beautiful woman. When Gregory sees the new Rose, he becomes attracted to her physically, causing tension in their relationship. Rose becomes torn between her desire for a passionate romance and her love for Gregory's intellect and companionship.

The movie further explores the complexities of love, desire, and self-acceptance as Rose and Gregory navigate their evolving relationship. Will they find a middle ground where passion and intellectual connection can coexist, or will their conflicting desires tear them apart? "The Mirror Has Two Faces" takes the audience on an emotional journey as these two characters grapple with their own insecurities and expectations for love.
