After Skip Donahue and Harry Monroe, played by Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, find themselves unemployed and desperate for work, they decide to leave New York City and try their luck elsewhere. They end up in the small town of Glenboro, where they surprisingly land jobs as woodpecker mascots, promoting the opening of a bank.
