Henry Graham is a wealthy and carefree playboy who indulges in a luxurious lifestyle. However, his extravagant spending and reckless behavior have left him in dire financial straits. His lawyer, Beckett, breaks the news to Henry that he has squandered his entire inheritance and is now facing bankruptcy.

Panicked about losing his high social status, Henry scrambles to come up with a plan to maintain his lavish lifestyle. On a chance encounter, he meets Henrietta Lowell, a clumsy and socially awkward botanist who possesses a substantial fortune. Seeing an opportunity, Henry hatches a plan to marry Henrietta, inherit her wealth, and then quickly dispose of her to regain his independence.

Henry successfully charms and woos Henrietta, finally marrying her and becoming the beneficiary of her vast fortune, much to the dismay of his lawyer. However, as Henry starts to get to know Henrietta better, he discovers that she is deeply lonely and yearns for companionship rather than material possessions.

As Henry spends more time with Henrietta, he begins to develop feelings for her genuine and kind-hearted nature. Realizing the error of his initial intentions, he sets out to make amends and attempts to become the devoted husband that Henrietta deserves. He starts taking an interest in her passion for botany and even helps her launch a new nursery business.

Throughout the film, Henry's character undergoes a significant transformation, shifting from a selfish and materialistic playboy to a compassionate and thoughtful individual. As the couple's relationship blossoms, Henry finds true happiness in his renewed purpose and the love he shares with Henrietta.

However, their newfound joy is short-lived when Beckett discovers Henry's change of heart and realizes that his plan to dispose of Henrietta can no longer be executed. Beckett blackmails Henry, threatening to reveal his initial intentions to Henrietta unless he pays a hefty sum.

Henry, with the support of Henrietta, confronts Beckett and stands up against his manipulative tactics. In a climactic twist, Beckett's illegal activities are uncovered, revealing his embezzlement of Henry's funds. With Beckett out of the picture, Henry and Henrietta are able to finally enjoy their life together, free from the weight of financial troubles and deception.

"A New Leaf" explores themes of greed, love, and personal growth as Henry learns the value of genuine connections and selflessness. The film is a heartwarming and comedic journey that ultimately emphasizes the importance of embracing a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
