Bonds of Fate: From Ancient China to Modern Finland

Jade Warrior follows the story of a sword hero from ancient China who is deeply in love with a woman. However, due to his destiny, they are unable to be together. Desperate for another chance, he is given the opportunity to be reunited with his loved one, but in a different time and place – modern-day Finland.

The film takes place both in ancient China during the early Iron Age and in present-day Finland. The past is intricately woven into the present, gradually revealing the protagonist's true origin, exceptional fighting skills, and his destined purpose.

Jade Warrior is not only the first Finnish Kung Fu film but also a combination of Finnish and Chinese mythologies. It pays homage to the Kung Fu genre, while incorporating a unique interpretation of the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala. Just like the Kalevala, the movie is a pure melodrama, focusing on the emotional journey of its characters.
