Closer to the Moon is a historical drama based on the true story of a group of former Jewish resistance fighters in Romania who stage a daring heist in 1959. The film follows the group as they disguise themselves as filmmakers and rob a bank under the guise of shooting a movie. However, their plan goes awry when they are caught by the authorities, leading to a tense standoff.

As the group of robbers, led by the charismatic Max Rosenthal, are taken into custody, they find themselves faced with a choice - either face a harsh punishment or participate in a propaganda film about their crime. Reluctantly, they agree to take part in the film, but soon realize that they are being used as political pawns in a larger game.

As the group navigates their complicated situation, they also grapple with their own personal demons and struggles. The relationships between the members of the group are tested, and they must confront their identities as both heroes and criminals.

Throughout the film, the audience is taken on a gripping journey filled with twists and turns as the characters try to make sense of the events that have transpired. Closer to the Moon is a thought-provoking exploration of morality, loyalty, and the consequences of one's actions.
