"Read My Lips" is a French thriller film directed by Jacques Audiard. The movie tells the story of Carla, a nearly deaf woman who works as a secretary at a construction company. Due to her disability, she relies heavily on lip-reading to communicate effectively.

One day, Carla's boss hires a new employee named Paul, an ex-convict with a troubled past. While initially distant and uncomfortable around each other, Carla and Paul eventually form an unusual bond when she discovers his talent for petty crime.

Carla, yearning for connection and the desire to escape her monotonous life, sees an opportunity to manipulate Paul's criminal skills to her benefit. She convinces him to help her in a personal vendetta against her despicable boss, who has been taking advantage of her for years. Paul reluctantly agrees, as he sees it as an opportunity to regain some control over his life.

As the plan unfolds, tension rises and the duo finds themselves deeply entangled in a web of lies, deceit, and danger. Carla's lip-reading skills become crucial in helping Paul navigate through complicated situations, enabling them to pull off daring heists.

Their partnership begins to evolve into an unexpected romance, further complicating their already volatile situation. However, as the stakes get higher, both Carla and Paul start questioning each other's motives and true intentions.

Throughout the film, Carla's deafness and lip-reading abilities become a metaphor for the characters' struggle to truly understand one another and the world around them. As the climax approaches, the lines between hero and villain blur, and the characters must confront their own demons and make difficult choices.

"Read My Lips" explores themes of trust, redemption, and the power dynamics between individuals from different social backgrounds. It presents a dark and intense narrative that delves into the human psyche while highlighting the importance of communication and empathy in our lives.
