"The Call of the Wild" follows the story of Buck, a domesticated Saint Bernard-Scotch Collie mix, who lives a comfortable life as a pet in Santa Clara, California. However, his life takes a drastic turn when he is stolen and sold to become a sled dog during the 1890s Klondike Gold Rush in Yukon, Alaska.

Buck endures harsh conditions and abusive treatment from different owners as he adapts to his new life as a working dog. He gradually taps into his primal instincts, honing his survival skills and learning to embrace his true nature as a wild animal. Along his journey, Buck encounters a variety of characters, both human and canine.

One of his owners, François and Perrault, treat him fairly, and through them, he learns the discipline and harsh reality of life as a sled dog. Another owner, the cruel and greedy Hal, mistreats Buck and his team, putting their lives at risk due to ignorance and arrogance.

Eventually, Buck ends up in the hands of John Thornton, a kind-hearted and experienced gold prospector who forms a deep bond with the dog. Buck becomes an integral part of Thornton's life, helping him in his endeavors, and the two develop a strong companionship.

As Buck and Thornton explore the wild, pristine landscapes of Alaska, Buck becomes increasingly drawn to the call of the wild, the pull of his ancestral instincts. He encounters a pack of wolves and feels a deep connection to them, ultimately questioning whether he should return to a life of dominance in the animal kingdom or remain loyal to Thornton.

Tragedy strikes when Buck and Thornton stumble upon a hidden gold mine that belongs to a group of reckless and ruthless men. Thornton defends Buck, but sadly loses his life in the process. Devastated, Buck swears vengeance on the men responsible.

Buck ends up leading a wolf pack, forever embracing the wild and becoming a legendary figure in the wilderness. The movie concludes with Buck choosing to listen to the call of the wild, leaving behind his domesticated life to roam the Alaskan wild, free and untamed.
