In the film "The Man from Snowy River," Jim Craig's father, Henry, has passed away, leaving Jim with the responsibility of taking care of their mountain farm. However, due to financial struggles, Jim decides to leave the mountains and find work in the low lands to save the farm.

Unbeknownst to Jim, in the low lands, he encounters twin brothers, Harrison and Spur, both portrayed by Kirk Douglas. Harrison was Jim's father's best friend, and they had a falling out years ago. Spur, on the other hand, is the father of the girl, Jessica, that Jim has fallen in love with.

Jim's arrival in the low lands sparks tension and drama between the feuding brothers. Harrison, despising his brother Spur, tries to sabotage Jim's efforts to raise money for his father's farm. Meanwhile, Jessica tries to mediate and bring reconciliation between her father and uncle.
