"And Then We Danced" is a Georgian drama film that tells the story of Merab, a talented young dancer who has been training at the National Georgian Ensemble since a young age, aspiring to join the prestigious company. Merab's dance partner is Mary, and together they have been practicing diligently in the hopes of securing a spot in the ensemble.

However, Merab's world takes an unexpected turn when a new dancer named Irakli joins the ensemble. Irakli is carefree, charismatic, and incredibly talented, instantly capturing everyone's attention, including Merab's. Merab finds himself drawn to Irakli not only as a rival but also as a desire he might never have anticipated.

In the conservative and traditional setting of Georgian dance, which strictly adheres to gender norms and heteronormativity, Merab's growing attraction to Irakli challenges his sense of identity and his place in society. As they spend more time together, Merab begins to question his own desires and what it means to truly be himself.

As Merab and Irakli become closer, they start a secret relationship, fully aware of the potential consequences if their love is exposed. Merab becomes torn between his passion for dance and his increasingly intense love for Irakli, as well as the fear of rejection and judgment from his community.

Throughout the film, Merab's journey becomes a path of self-discovery, as he navigates the rigid expectations of his conservative environment and strives to break free from societal norms. He must make difficult choices about his future, risking it all for love and personal authenticity.

"And Then We Danced" explores themes of sexuality, identity, and the struggle between personal desires and societal expectations. It portrays a young artist's journey towards self-acceptance and the pursuit of true happiness, even in the face of adversity.
