Righteous Kill is a 2008 crime thriller film directed by Jon Avnet. The movie centers around two long-time detectives, Turk (played by Robert De Niro) and Rooster (played by Al Pacino), who have dedicated their lives to serving the NYPD and upholding the law.

The story begins when a series of murders occur in New York City, all seemingly connected by a common thread. As Turk and Rooster investigate, they discover that the victims are all criminals who have escaped justice through legal loopholes. Their murders are carried out in a manner that resembles vigilante-style justice, raising suspicions about whether there is a serial killer targeting these criminals.

During their investigation, Turk and Rooster begin to draw parallels between the recent murders and an old case they believe they solved years ago. The case involved a serial killer who murdered young women, and they successfully apprehended a suspect named David (played by John Leguizamo) and got him convicted.

As they dig deeper, the two detectives start to question whether they may have made a mistake in their original investigation. Doubt begins to arise about David's actual involvement in the previous murders and whether he was truly the serial killer they prosecuted. They begin to suspect that David may have been innocent all along, and that there may be a connection between the recent killings and the old case.

As Turk and Rooster undertake their journey to uncover the truth, they face numerous challenges, including their own personal demons and the pressure to solve the case before more lives are taken. Along the way, they engage in intense interrogations, witness shocking revelations, and confront their own moral dilemmas.

The film explores themes of justice, morality, and the lengths that individuals may go to in order to serve their version of righteousness. Righteous Kill takes viewers on a thrilling ride as the detectives race against time to solve the recent murders, while also re-evaluating their own past actions and the potential consequences of their past mistakes.
