In Les Dames du Bois de Boulogne, the story revolves around a wealthy and sophisticated society lady named Hélène (played by Maria Casarès), who seeks revenge after being rejected by her ex-lover, Jean (played by Paul Bernard). In order to accomplish this, Hélène devises a manipulative plan to humiliate Jean.

Hélène befriends Agnès (played by Elina Labourdette), a young and innocent woman working as a prostitute in the Bois de Boulogne park. Hélène convinces Agnès to leave her current life behind and marry Jean, believing that he will eventually tire of her and become disenchanted.

Following Hélène's instructions, Agnès marries Jean, and they move into an extravagant mansion. However, unbeknownst to Agnès, Jean starts to develop genuine feelings for her. He becomes captivated by her purity and devotion, much to Hélène's dismay.

As Jean and Agnès grow closer, Hélène's plan begins to unravel. Consumed by jealousy, Hélène becomes desperate and resorts to drastic measures to destroy their relationship. The film delves into themes of love, manipulation, revenge, and the true strength of human emotions.

Throughout the movie, director Robert Bresson showcases his unique cinematic style, characterized by minimalist performances, precise compositions, and attention to detail.
