In the movie "Remember," an elderly man named Zev Gutman (played by Christopher Plummer) is suffering from dementia and resides in a nursing home. Zev's close friend and fellow Auschwitz survivor, Max (played by Max Landau), constantly reminds him of their painful past and the loss of their families at the hands of an unknown Nazi officer.

However, Max has recently passed away, leaving behind a meticulously detailed letter for Zev. In the letter, Max reveals that he has uncovered the true identity of the Auschwitz officer who killed their respective families. He urges Zev to seek retribution by finding and killing this person, a man named Rudy Kurlander, who is currently living under an assumed identity.

Empowered by the letter and influenced by Max's unwavering belief in justice, Zev embarks on a cross-country journey to track down the man responsible for the death of his family. Armed with limited information and his dwindling memory, Zev sets out to find Rudy Kurlander, knowing that he must act quickly as his dementia worsens.

The clues provided in Max's letter help Zev identify potential targets who could be Rudy Kurlander, but each encounter proves disheartening as they lead to dead ends. Along the way, Zev encounters several individuals who show him kindness, but they ultimately send him in the wrong direction.

During his search, Zev encounters another elderly man named John Kurlander (played by Martin Landau), who is a survivor but has no connection to Zev's quest for revenge. However, Zev believes that John could be related in some way to the Nazi officer. As he confronts John, Zev realizes that John's son, Rudy, is the true target.

In a twist of fate, it is revealed that Rudy Kurlander has adopted the identity of a local police officer named Peter, who has a wife, children, and a seemingly normal life. When Zev confronts Rudy/Peter, he struggles with his memories, his morality, and the realization of the immense consequences his actions might hold.

As the suspense rises, Zev's dementia worsens, making it more challenging for him to distinguish between reality and his deteriorating memory. Ultimately, Zev is faced with a morally complex decision: whether to act upon his quest for vengeance, potentially sacrificing his own safety and the lives of others, or to find a path towards forgiveness and closure.

"Remember" delves into themes of memory, justice, revenge, and the power of human connection. The film explores the consequences of seeking revenge, questioning whether justice can truly be served and whether closure can be achieved through violent means.
