In The Map Against the World, Kim Jeong-Ho, a cartographer, lives during the Joseon Dynasty in the 19th century. As a young boy, he witnesses the tragic death of his father, who is a cartographer himself. His father dies due to the use of an erroneous map, which leads to a fatal accident during a surveying expedition.
Haunted by guilt and driven by a strong desire to rectify his father's death, Kim Jeong-Ho becomes determined to create an accurate and comprehensive map of Joseon.
