"The Departed" is a 2006 crime thriller film directed by Martin Scorsese. The movie takes place in Boston, Massachusetts and follows the interconnected lives of two men, Billy Costigan (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Colin Sullivan (played by Matt Damon), who find themselves caught up in a dangerous game of deception.

Billy Costigan is a young police officer selected to go undercover and infiltrate the notorious Irish-American mob, led by Frank Costello (played by Jack Nicholson). Billy's mission is to gain the trust of the mobsters and gather evidence to bring them down. However, as he becomes deeper entrenched in the criminal underworld, his double life begins to take a toll on him psychologically.

Colin Sullivan, on the other hand, is a smart and ambitious officer who is actually a mole for the Irish Mafia within the Boston Police Department. Sullivan's role is to feed inside information to Frank Costello, allowing the mob boss to stay one step ahead of the law enforcement.

As the story unfolds, both Billy and Colin become aware of the presence of a mole in their respective organizations. Billy suspects that there is another undercover officer working for the mob, while Colin begins to suspect that his own cover has been compromised.

With tension and paranoia rising, both men race against time to uncover the identity of the mole before they are exposed. As they navigate their dangerous double lives, their paths intertwine, bringing them face to face with each other and ultimately leading to a dramatic climax.

"The Departed" explores themes of loyalty, identity, and the blurred lines between good and evil. The film is known for its intense performances, gritty atmosphere, and complex plot twists, making it a highly acclaimed and influential crime thriller.
