In the 1920s, British military officer and explorer Col. Percy Fawcett becomes fascinated with the idea of an advanced civilization hidden deep within the Amazon rainforest. Fawcett, portrayed by Charlie Hunnam, embarks on several expeditions to find this elusive city, which he dubs "Z."

Despite facing skepticism and ridicule from his peers, Fawcett remains determined and optimistic. He develops a theory that an ancient civilization rivaling even the great European empires once thrived in the Amazon, leaving behind traces of their existence. Supported by his loyal wife Nina (played by Sienna Miller), Fawcett organizes a final expedition to find the lost city.

Accompanied by his close friend and fellow explorer, Henry Costin (Robert Pattinson), Fawcett faces numerous challenges along their perilous journey. They encounter hostile natives, treacherous terrain, and the harsh elements of the unforgiving rainforest. Despite these obstacles, Fawcett's conviction only grows stronger as he discovers tantalizing archaeological remnants.

As Fawcett's reputation rises, he attracts adventurers from all walks of life, including his own son, Jack (Tom Holland). Together, they venture deeper into the unknown, facing increasing dangers while maintaining hope of discovering the mythical city.

Tragically, after years of searching and on his final expedition in 1925, Fawcett and his team vanish without a trace. News of their disappearance shocks the world, and Fawcett's fate becomes an enduring mystery.

The movie, based on David Grann's best-selling book of the same name, portrays Fawcett's relentless quest for the truth and the lengths he went to unravel the mysteries of the Amazonian wilderness. It also delves into the effect his obsession had on his personal life, highlighting his strained relationships and the sacrifices he made for his ambition.

"The Lost City of Z" ultimately becomes a moving exploration of the human spirit, the lure of the unknown, and the limits of determination, leaving audiences with a sense of wonder and awe for Fawcett's extraordinary adventures and the enigma of the lost civilization he sought.
