In "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes," Captain Phillippe D'Arnot takes the man, who later adopts the name John Clayton, under his wing and educates him about human society. John gradually learns to communicate and adapt to the ways of humans. During this time, he meets and falls in love with Jane Porter, a young woman who becomes fascinated by his unique upbringing and the relationship he had with the apes.

As John Clayton develops his understanding of his true identity as the heir to the Greystoke estate, he grapples with a dilemma. On one hand, he desires to return to civilization and claim his rightful place as the Earl of Greystoke. On the other hand, he feels a deep connection to the jungle and his adopted ape family, particularly his 'mother' ape, Kala.

John finally makes the decision to leave his jungle life behind and accompany Captain D'Arnot and Jane to England. However, the transition to human society proves to be challenging for him. John struggles to fit in and adapt to the customs, expectations, and constraints of the aristocratic Greystoke family.

As John works to integrate into his new life, he faces numerous conflicts and trials. His struggle to find his true identity and purpose leads him on a journey of self-discovery. Gradually, he understands that he can bridge the gap between his two worlds and become a voice for both the jungle and human society.

Throughout the story, the film explores themes of nature versus civilization, the complexities of identity, and the notion of belonging. It showcases John Clayton/Tarzan's ability to walk between two worlds, ultimately finding a balance that allows him to protect and preserve the jungle while honoring his responsibilities as the Earl of Greystoke.
