In The Incredible Hulk, scientist Bruce Banner has been living in hiding and seeking a cure for his condition, which causes him to transform into the monstrous Hulk whenever he gets angry. He travels the world in order to stay isolated and prevent any harm coming to others.
Meanwhile, General Thaddeus Ross, who has been obsessed with capturing and weaponizing the Hulk's power, is convinced that Banner holds the key to unlocking its secrets. With the help of British scientist Dr. Elizabeth Ross (Bruce's ex-girlfriend) and her father, Samuel Sterns, General Ross tracks Bruce down and successfully exposes him to a serum that triggers his transformation.
During this experiment, a new enemy is unleashed - Emil Blonsky, a Russian-born British special forces soldier. Blonsky volunteers to be injected with an altered version of the same serum, turning him into the monstrous Abomination. Blonsky becomes extremely powerful but unable to control his rage, putting innocent lives at risk.
As the Hulk battles the military forces led by General Ross, he also finds himself pitted against the Abomination.
