In the movie "Ride the High Country," the ex-lawman, Steve Judd (played by Joel McCrea), is hired by a mining community to transport a significant amount of gold from their mine to a nearby town. The journey takes them through treacherous and lawless territory, making it a dangerous and high-stakes mission.

Steve decides to bring along an old friend, Gil Westrum (played by Randolph Scott), as his partner for the job. Gil is a former lawman turned bounty hunter, and they share a complicated history.
