After being smuggled back to Poland, Karol finds himself penniless and homeless. He seeks refuge in a large landfill, where he meets and befriends a kindhearted hairdresser named Mikołaj. Mikołaj offers Karol a job and a place to stay, hoping to help him get back on his feet.
As Karol starts to rebuild his life, he becomes obsessed with seeking revenge against his ex-wife, Dominique. He hatches a plan to fake his own death and frame Dominique for his murder, hoping to ruin her life as she had ruined his. With Mikołaj's help, they stage a car accident and leave behind evidence pointing towards a crime.
Meanwhile, Dominique, who has moved back to Paris, begins to face financial troubles.
