In the movie "Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?" Auntie Roo, played by Shelley Winters, is a wealthy but mentally unstable widow who mourns the loss of her daughter, who died years ago. In her grief, she becomes obsessed with the idea of filling the void left by her daughter's absence and believes that she can bring her back to life.

Auntie Roo's mansion is transformed each year during Christmas into a wonderland for orphaned children, who are invited to celebrate the holiday with her. In a dark and twisted twist on the classic "Hansel and Gretel" tale, she lures unsuspecting children to her mansion with the promise of love and care. She creates an illusion of a joyful environment and showers the children with gifts and attention, seemingly acting as a loving mother figure.

However, it soon becomes clear that Auntie Roo has ulterior motives. She begins to see one young girl named Katy (played by Chloe Franks) as a physical embodiment of her deceased daughter. Auntie Roo becomes increasingly delusional, convinced that Katy is her long-lost child and will stop at nothing to keep her by her side forever.

Meanwhile, a group of children in the attic discovers the truth behind Auntie Roo's sinister intentions. They witness her strange rituals and become determined to rescue Katy and themselves from her clutches. Led by a resourceful young boy named Christopher (played by Mark Lester), the children devise a plan to escape Auntie Roo's mansion.

As the tension rises, Auntie Roo's fragile mental state deteriorates further, blurring the line between reality and fantasy. The children must navigate their way through the maze-like mansion, facing various obstacles and psychological tricks set up by Auntie Roo to trap them. Meanwhile, Auntie Roo's increasingly desperate attempt to keep Katy with her becomes more dangerous and menacing.

In the climactic final confrontation, the children must outsmart Auntie Roo and escape her clutches before it is too late. The movie raises questions about the limits of grief and the lengths that someone can go to in order to fulfill their desires.
