Shadow Game follows the journey of a group of teenagers as they attempt to seek asylum in Europe. Faced with fences erected all over Europe and tightened asylum policies, their task becomes nearly impossible. The film sheds light on the far-reaching consequences of European asylum policy by showcasing the hardships and challenges faced by these young individuals.

The story begins in Greece, where the teenagers start their journey. They traverse snowy landscapes, struggling against the harsh weather conditions. Along the way, they encounter aggressive border police who make their path even more treacherous. The film highlights the inhumane treatment and obstacles imposed on asylum seekers by the authorities.

Throughout the film, the teenagers push forward, hoping to reach their final destination. Their path takes them through various countries, including North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, France, and The Netherlands. Each step of the way poses a new set of difficulties and dangers.

The unique aspect of the film is that it was shot over a period of three years, partially by the main characters themselves using their mobile phones. This format offers an intimate and authentic portrayal of their experiences, as they capture their personal struggles and interactions with different individuals they encounter on their journey.

Shadow Game aims to inform and raise awareness about the harsh realities faced by asylum seekers in Europe. It shines a light on the human stories behind migration and challenges the prevailing negative narratives often associated with asylum seekers.
