She learns that the Beast was once a handsome prince who was cursed by an enchantress for his selfishness and cruelty. The only way for the curse to be broken is for someone to love the Beast for who he truly is, despite his appearance.

As Belle and the Beast start to form a connection, they face obstacles from Gaston, a narcissistic and arrogant hunter who wants Belle for himself. Gaston rallies the townspeople to storm the castle and kill the Beast. In a climactic battle, the Beast is mortally wounded while protecting Belle, but she confesses her love for him just in time to break the curse.

The Beast is transformed back into a handsome prince, and the castle is restored to its former glory. The enchantments on the staff are lifted, and they are revealed to be the prince's loyal servants. Belle and the prince share a dance as the townspeople celebrate their love.
