In the animated film "Klaus," the postman is Jesper, a spoiled and lazy young man from a well-to-do family. In an attempt to teach him a lesson about responsibility, Jesper's father sends him to the frozen and isolated town of Smeerensburg, located in the far North. Jesper is tasked with establishing a functional post office in this desolate town, which has a long-standing rivalry between the two feuding clans, the Ellingboes and the Krums.

Upon arriving in Smeerensburg, Jesper finds an inhospitable and divided community, where the inhabitants have lost all hope and live in constant conflict. As Jesper's efforts to establish a functioning postal service prove to be futile, he stumbles upon a reclusive woodsman named Klaus, living deep within the snowy woods outside of town. Jesper discovers that Klaus is not just an ordinary woodsman but actually the legendary Santa Claus himself, hidden away after a tragic event.

Jesper realizes that by encouraging children to write letters to Klaus and delivering toys, he can bring a positive change to the town and unite its inhabitants. Together with Klaus, Jesper starts a secret mission to bring joy and happiness back to the children of Smeerensburg. As their efforts begin to have a remarkable impact on the community, the resident feud starts to fade away, replaced by newfound friendships and sorrowful pasts confronted.

As Jesper and Klaus work tirelessly to fulfill the children's wishes, the story unfolds with heartwarming moments, surprising twists, and unforgettable adventures. Along the way, Jesper learns the true meaning of friendship, selflessness, and the power of generosity. "Klaus" beautifully portrays the origins of the Santa Claus legend and emphasizes the importance of spreading joy and kindness, even in the most unlikely of places.
