In Predestination, the Temporal Agent, played by Ethan Hawke, is on his final mission to capture a criminal known as the Fizzle Bomber, who has always managed to evade him across multiple time periods. The Agent has been working for a secret organization called the Temporal Bureau, which uses time travel technology to prevent crimes from happening.

The Agent's journey begins when he travels back to 1970 to work undercover as a bartender. There, he encounters a mysterious man, known as the Unmarried Mother, who tells him an incredible story about his own life. The Unmarried Mother claims to have been born a girl and raised as a boy. In his past, he had a love affair that ended tragically, causing him to become pregnant and give birth to a baby girl, whom he then raised as his own son.

As the Agent continues to listen to the Unmarried Mother's story, he realizes that their lives are deeply intertwined. The Agent, in fact, is the future version of the Unmarried Mother. The Temporal Bureau had sent him back in time to become his own father, in order to ensure his own existence. This revelation leaves the Agent with conflicting emotions and a sense of predestination.

Throughout the film, the Agent tries to find and apprehend the Fizzle Bomber, while also attempting to change his own past. Along the way, he is introduced to a talented young woman, Jane, who becomes an important part of his life. She is also caught up in the web of time manipulation and has her own tragic story.

As the Agent delves deeper into the complex web of time travel and identity, he eventually discovers the shocking truth about the Fizzle Bomber. Without giving away too many spoilers, the Fizzle Bomber is revealed to be a future version of himself. This revelation raises questions about free will, determinism, and the nature of identity.

In the climactic final act, the Agent must make difficult choices to stop the Fizzle Bomber's devastating attack and save countless lives. The film explores themes of fate, identity, and the consequences of interfering with the past. Predestination is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller that deals with profound philosophical questions and twists that keep the audience engaged and questioning their own understanding of time and existence.
