In the movie "Phone Booth," directed by Joel Schumacher, New York publicist Stuart Shepard (played by Colin Farrell) enjoys his daily routine of using a public phone booth in the heart of Manhattan to make personal calls and discreetly contact his mistress, Pamela (Katie Holmes). One day, while Shepard is engrossed in a phone conversation, he reluctantly answers an incoming call from a mysterious and threatening stranger who seems to know everything about him.

The caller (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) warns Shepard not to hang up or leave the booth, threatening to shoot him with a high-powered sniper rifle if he disobeys. Initially believing it to be a prank, Shepard soon realizes that the danger is very real when he sees a red laser sight on his chest. Trapped in the phone booth, he desperately tries to convince the caller that he has the wrong person, but the stranger insists that Shepard must confess his sins and accept the consequences.

As the hours pass, Shepard's life quickly unravels. The caller manipulates his emotions, revealing intimate and damaging secrets about his personal and professional life to those passing by on the street. News of the bizarre situation spreads, attracting the attention of the police, media, and his wife, Kelly (Radha Mitchell). With the whole world watching, Shepard's life and reputation hang in the balance while he must carefully navigate his way through this dangerous cat-and-mouse game.

The film focuses on the psychopathic caller's attempts to psychologically dismantle Shepard, forcing him to confront his own flaws and take responsibility for his actions. As tensions rise, the police grow increasingly suspicious of Shepard's involvement, suspecting he may somehow be orchestrating the situation himself.

Amidst the chaos, a skilled negotiator, Captain Ramey (Forest Whitaker), is brought in to communicate with the unseen caller and devise a plan to rescue Shepard. With time running out and his life on the line, Shepard must find a way to outwit his tormentor, reveal the truth, and regain control of his life before it's too late.

"Phone Booth" takes place almost entirely within the confines of the phone booth, creating a claustrophobic and suspenseful atmosphere. It explores themes of guilt, personal accountability, morality, and how one person's actions can have far-reaching consequences.
