In the movie Speed, SWAT cop Jack Traven becomes entangled in a deadly game orchestrated by the villainous Howard Payne. The film starts with Payne planting a bomb in an elevator inside a high-rise building. Payne then demands a hefty ransom in exchange for the lives of the elevator passengers. With only limited time, Jack ventures into the elevator shaft to disarm the bomb and save the trapped individuals, narrowly escaping the explosion.
However, the danger doesn't end there. Jack soon discovers that Payne has rigged a city bus to explode if it drops below 50 miles per hour.
