The main protagonist of the movie is Jim, a bicycle courier who wakes up from a coma in a deserted hospital in London. Confused and disoriented, he wanders through the empty streets, discovering that the entire city seems abandoned. Soon enough, he encounters a group of survivors, Selena and Mark, who explain that the city has been devastated by a virus known as "Rage." They inform Jim that the virus is transmitted through blood and saliva, and that it turns infected individuals into incredibly violent and uncontrollable beings.
Jim, Selena, and Mark join forces with other survivors they come across, including a father and daughter named Frank and Hannah. Together, they search for a safe haven outside of London, as the city has become overrun by infected humans, referred to as "the infected." Along their journey, they face numerous challenges and encounters with both the infected and other survivors with questionable intentions.
They eventually find temporary sanctuary in a fortified mansion owned by a man named Major Henry West and his men. However, they soon discover that the group of soldiers occupying the mansion has sinister plans. Major West intends to take advantage of the vulnerable state of women in the post-apocalyptic world and rebuild society using them as breeding stock. Horrified by the revelation, Jim, Selena, Frank, Hannah, and other survivors manage to escape the mansion, with the assistance of Frank sacrificing himself to hold off the pursuing soldiers.
The group continues their search for safety and eventually comes into contact with a group of soldiers who claim to have found a cure for the virus. They plan to rebuild society based on the surviving population. However, Jim, distrustful of their intentions, sabotages their plan and releases a horde of infected upon them, saving the remaining survivors.
In the end, Jim and Selena reach a secluded countryside cottage, encountering a message left by a squadron of fighter jets overhead. The message indicates that a blockade has been established around the infected areas, suggesting that help may finally be on its way. The movie concludes with Jim and Selena embracing the possibility of survival and a chance for a better future.
