In the animated movie "Free Birds," the two turkeys are named Reggie and Jake. Reggie is a smart and resourceful turkey who lives on a turkey farm, but he is different from the others as he questions the traditional lifestyle of being raised for Thanksgiving dinner. Jake, on the other hand, is the charismatic leader of a rebellious group of turkeys who are determined to change their destiny.

One day, Jake persuades Reggie to join him on a daring mission to travel back in time using a top-secret time machine called S.T.E.V.E. Their goal is to go back to the year 1621 when the first Thanksgiving occurred and prevent turkeys from ever becoming a holiday tradition. Their mission is not only to save the lives of countless turkeys in the future but also to erase the suffering and fear associated with Thanksgiving.

Upon successfully traveling back in time, Reggie and Jake find themselves in a picturesque colonial Thanksgiving setting where they forge an unlikely alliance with a group of Native American wild turkeys. Together, they hatch a plan to change history by trying to convince the Pilgrims, led by Governor Bradford, that turkeys should not be part of their celebratory feast.

However, their journey is not without challenges. They face numerous obstacles, including a relentless Thanksgiving turkey-hunting fanatic named Myles Standish, who becomes suspicious of Reggie and Jake's intentions. The turkeys must remain two steps ahead of Standish and his cronies while ensuring that they don't alter history in any significant way. Their adventure takes them through thrilling and comical escapades, showcasing the power of friendship, teamwork, and fighting against the odds.

As the story unfolds, Reggie and Jake learn valuable lessons about acceptance, selflessness, and the importance of fighting for what they believe in. Together with the wild turkeys and the inspiring cranberry farmer's daughter, Jenny, they attempt to create a future where turkeys can live freely without fear of being slaughtered for Thanksgiving.

Through their actions and determination, Reggie, Jake, and their newfound friends inspire both the Pilgrims and the Native Americans to reconsider their traditional feast and embrace a more compassionate approach. In the end, they not only manage to change history but also redefine the meaning of Thanksgiving, creating a holiday that celebrates unity, understanding, and respect for all living beings.
