Andie Anderson, a talented advice columnist for a popular women's magazine, is given the opportunity to write a groundbreaking article on how to make a man leave you in just ten days. Andie, eager to prove herself as a serious journalist, eagerly accepts the challenge, intending to use her personal experience to conduct the experiment.

Meanwhile, Benjamin "Ben" Berry, a successful ad executive, boasts about his ability to make any woman fall in love with him within ten days. When Ben's boss overhears him and sees an opportunity for a lucrative diamond campaign, he challenges Ben to prove his skills by making a woman fall in love with him in the same ten-day timeframe.

As fate would have it, Andie and Ben's paths cross at a bar, where Andie desperately tries to find a man she can subject to her "relationship sabotage" experiment. Ben, seeing Andie as a potential conquest for his own challenge, confidently approaches her, unaware of her ulterior motives.

Believing they have found the perfect subjects for their respective articles, Andie and Ben start dating with conflicting agendas. Andie purposefully exhibits bizarre, clingy, and irrational behaviors, such as adopting a needy and high-maintenance persona, bombarding him with pet names, talking incessantly, and even redecorating his bachelor pad with all things pink and fluffy.

On the other hand, Ben employs his tried-and-true tactics to make Andie fall for him. He showers her with attention, affection, thoughtful gestures, and even introduces her to his friends and family. Although deeply attracted to each other, their deceptive motives create a pseudo-relationship riddled with misunderstandings and miscommunication.

As days go by, Andie's intentional antics start to wear on Ben, making him question whether his romantic prowess is failing him. Andie, despite her best efforts to push him away, begins to see Ben's genuine qualities and sense of humor, which break through her defensive barriers.

Simultaneously, the pressures from work and their friends complicate matters further. Andie's friend, Michelle, tries to support her in her "relationship sabotage," while Ben's friends encourage his efforts to make Andie fall in love. Throughout the ten-day experiment, both Andie and Ben navigate the complexities of their feelings and the hidden agenda behind their courtship.

Eventually, the truth behind Andie's experiment is revealed to Ben, leaving him hurt and feeling used. Meanwhile, Andie, who has come to genuinely care for Ben, realizes the damage she has caused and regrets her actions. Understanding her misjudgment, Andie tries to make amends and win back Ben's trust.

In the end, after a series of heartfelt conversations and grand gestures, Ben forgives Andie. They admit their love for each other, and the couple decides to start a real relationship built on honesty and trust rather than deception.

"How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" explores the themes of vulnerability, deception, and the complexities of modern relationships. Through a series of humorous and heartfelt moments, Andie and Ben discover that true love cannot be manipulated or forced but can only flourish when nurtured with genuine emotions and sincerity.
