"Made in Britain" is a British television film directed by Alan Clarke and written by David Leland. The story revolves around Trevor, an intelligent but troubled teenage boy living in a working-class area of London.

The film begins with Trevor's rebellious nature and dissatisfaction with authority, as he often engages in criminal activities and displays a racist and confrontational attitude. After being repeatedly apprehended for stealing cars, Trevor is sent to a detention center.

In the detention center, Trevor meets his social worker, Harry Parker, who attempts to help him redirect his anger and channel it into more positive pursuits. However, Trevor remains resistant and dismissive towards Harry, only showing interest when he believes there is something to gain.

As the story unfolds, Trevor's interactions within the detention center become increasingly confrontational. He refuses to conform to the societal norms imposed upon him and openly expresses his disdain through offensive language and racial slurs. This behavior creates tension with both the authorities and other detainees.

Hoping to change Trevor's perspective, Harry arranges for him to see a psychiatrist, attempting to address the deeper issues underlying Trevor's aggression. Through their sessions, it is revealed that Trevor's rebellious nature stems from a deep-seated feeling of alienation and frustration with his surroundings.

The film further explores Trevor's relationship with his surroundings, shedding light on his troubled upbringing, his clash with societal expectations, and his struggle to find his place in a world that appears to reject him. As the story progresses, both Trevor and Harry continue to face challenges while engaging in a volatile power struggle between rebellion and a sincere attempt to affect positive change.

"Made in Britain" delves into themes of societal alienation, racism, authoritarianism, and the struggle for personal identity in a hostile environment. With a gritty and confrontational storyline, it portrays the harsh realities faced by marginalized individuals in British society while offering a glimpse into their complex and often misunderstood motivations.
