In the movie "Run Lola Run," Lola receives a frantic phone call from her boyfriend, Manni, who works as a courier for a local criminal organization. Manni tells Lola that he accidentally left a bag containing 100,000 Deutsche Marks (DM) on a subway train, and if he can't retrieve it within 20 minutes, he will be in serious trouble.

Panicked and determined to help Manni, Lola quickly hatches a plan to find the money. She runs out of her apartment and starts sprinting through the city streets of Berlin, desperately trying to gather the required amount before the deadline.

As Lola runs, the movie presents three different alternative versions of how the events unfold, each with minor variations based on small choices Lola makes along the way.

In the first version, Lola takes off on foot, encountering various obstacles and people during her quest. She meets a bank teller whom she convinces to give her the money, but before she can make it to Manni, she is hit by a car. Despite her efforts, Lola fails to save Manni from robbing a nearby supermarket.

In the second version, Lola runs into a different set of circumstances. In this alternate reality, she borrows a moped and speeds through the city streets, avoiding some of the obstacles she faced in the first version. She eventually enters a casino, where she places a bet on the roulette table with the money a woman offers to let her use. Against the odds, Lola wins and now has the necessary funds. She makes it to Manni just in time, preventing him from robbing the store.

In the third and final version, Lola yet again encounters a different series of events. This time, she steals a bike and races through the streets, facing several life-and-death situations. She is pursued by a dog, and the outcome depends on whether or not the dog is killed. If the dog dies, Lola makes it to Manni and successfully prevents him from resorting to robbery. However, if the dog survives, Lola arrives late and finds that Manni has already robbed the store. The story ends tragically, with both Lola and Manni getting caught in a shootout with the police.

Each alternative version explores the concept of small choices and chance encounters, emphasizing the Butterfly Effect, where even the smallest action can have significant consequences. The movie highlights the possibility of multiple outcomes in life, with the final version suggesting that fate plays a crucial role in determining our destiny.
