The movie "Sons of the Desert" follows the comedic adventures of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, two best friends who are part of a fraternal organization called the "Sons of the Desert." Stan and Ollie have a deep passion for attending the annual lodge convention held in Chicago and desperately want to attend the upcoming one.

However, their wives, Mrs. Laurel (Betty) and Mrs. Hardy (Ann), are not keen on the idea of their husbands going away without them. Knowing that their wives would disapprove, Stan and Ollie come up with an elaborate plan to deceive them and attend the convention.

They persuade their wives that they desperately need a vacation due to Stan's supposed ill health. To support this ruse, they convince a doctor to prescribe a restorative ocean cruise as a remedy for Stan's ailment. This clever deception convinces Betty and Ann to allow their husbands to go on the medicinal cruise, unaware that the actual destination is the lodge convention in Chicago.

The plan seems flawless until the comic duo discovers that a documentary they made about the lodge convention is poised to be shown at a local theater during their planned getaway. Panicking, Stan and Ollie must come up with elaborate schemes to ensure their wives remain unaware of the film's showing. They even enlist the help of a friend, Charley Chase, to distract and entertain their wives during the screening.

With a series of slapstick comedic mishaps and close calls, Stan and Ollie manage to keep their secret intact. However, their luck eventually runs out when they return home, as the wives suspect something is amiss. To further complicate matters, they unexpectedly come face to face with the documentary footage of their husbands at the convention.

As chaos ensues, Stan and Ollie must confront their wives and face the consequences of their deceit, all while trying to salvage their beloved friendship. The film humorously explores the lengths to which these two friends will go to maintain their passion and brotherhood within the Sons of the Desert, despite the comedic disasters they encounter along the way.

In the end, Stan and Ollie's wives come to understand their husbands' devotion to their fraternity and even attend a formal banquet held by the Sons of the Desert. Through ups and downs, the movie showcases the enduring friendship and comedic genius of Laurel and Hardy, leaving audiences entertained and amused.
