In the movie "God Willing," the main character, Matteo, is the son of an atheist father, Tommaso, who is known for his authoritative and liberal views. Despite growing up in a household where faith and religion aren't emphasized, Matteo discovers a deep calling to become a Catholic priest.

Matteo's decision shocks his father, Tommaso, as he vehemently opposes religious institutions and perceives them as oppressive. Conflicted by his son's desire, Tommaso tries everything he can to dissuade Matteo from entering the priesthood, believing it will hinder his son's potential and independence.

Meanwhile, Matteo continues to pursue his vocation seriously. He starts seeking guidance from a liberal priest, Father Pietro, who becomes his mentor and source of support. As Matteo delves deeper into his spiritual journey, he begins to question his father's ideologies and authority.

Over time, Matteo's persistence and determination deeply affect Tommaso, making him confront his own beliefs and reassess his understanding of faith and religion. Their relationship becomes strained as conflicts arise regarding their conflicting worldviews.

As Matteo prepares for his ordination, a series of events unfolds that challenges both Matteo and Tommaso. Through these trials, they are forced to confront their fundamental differences, acknowledge each other's perspectives, and ultimately find a way to reconcile their relationship.

"God Willing" explores themes of faith, freedom, and the power of personal conviction. It depicts the transformation of both Matteo and Tommaso as they navigate their respective journeys of self-discovery and understanding, culminating in a poignant resolution that highlights the strength of family bonds.
