In the movie Cat Ballou, Jane Fonda plays the title character, Catherine "Cat" Ballou, a young woman determined to avenge the murder of her father, Frankie Ballou. Seeking justice, she hires a famous and highly skilled gunman named Kid Shelleen, portrayed by Lee Marvin. However, upon meeting him, Cat quickly realizes that he is not the formidable gunslinger she had imagined.

Kid Shelleen turns out to be a drunken, bumbling, and washed-up cowboy with a knack for falling off his horse. Despite his ineptitude, Cat decides to keep him as her hired gun, hoping that he can still help her bring her father's killers to justice. Alongside her two eccentric outlaw friends, Jackson Two-Bears and Butch Cassidy (not to be confused with the famous Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), Cat embarks on a quest to confront the villainous gang responsible for her father's death.

As they make their way through the Wild West, Cat and her gang encounter a series of comedic and unpredictable situations. Kid Shelleen's drunken antics often jeopardize their plans, but he also surprises them with moments of unexpected heroism. Despite his flaws, Kid gradually starts to regain his confidence and sharpshooting skills, slowly transforming from a washed-up cowboy to a skilled gunslinger.

Eventually, Cat and her gang confront the gang leader, Sir Harry Percival, brilliantly portrayed by Dwayne Hickman. In a climactic shootout, Kid Shelleen redeems himself by expertly eliminating the opposition, thereby protecting Cat and her friends. The gang is defeated and brought to justice, finally avenging Cat's father's murder.

Cat Ballou is a delightful and comedic Western that blends elements of revenge, adventure, and unexpected friendships. Throughout the film, Cat Ballou's determination to seek justice is met with unexpected challenges, resulting in a wonderfully entertaining and heartwarming tale.
