In the movie Solaris, the psychologist named Kris Kelvin arrives at the space station orbiting the planet Solaris to investigate the mysterious death of a doctor and understand the psychological distress experienced by the cosmonauts stationed there. Upon his arrival, Kris finds that the crew members are highly disturbed and struggling with their own personal demons.

As Kris delves deeper into his investigation, he begins experiencing strange occurrences himself. He starts seeing and interacting with a physical manifestation of his deceased wife, Hari, who had taken her own life years ago on Earth. Confused and emotionally affected by her presence, Kris discovers that the planet Solaris has the ability to create these realistic virtual constructs from the memories and subconscious thoughts of the cosmonauts.

Driven by guilt and repressed emotions surrounding his wife's death, Kris becomes immersed in a complex web of psychological traumas and existential dilemmas. He tries to understand the nature of the planet's consciousness and its purpose in bringing forth these haunting manifestations.

As the plot progresses, Kris, along with other crew members, grapples with the blurred line between reality and illusion, as the planet Solaris continues to delve into their deepest fears and desires. The emotional intensity leads to profound philosophical questions about the nature of human consciousness, guilt, and the limitations of scientific understanding.

The movie Solaris explores themes of grief, regret, and the fragility of the human mind. It aims to challenge the protagonists and the audience alike to question their own understandings of identity, memory, and the boundaries between the external world and subjective perception.
