Nimic is a short film written and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos that revolves around a professional cellist named Tom, whose encounter with a stranger on the subway drastically alters the course of his life.

One day, during his usual commute, Tom finds himself sitting across from a woman on the subway, who engages him in a brief conversation. Though their interaction is seemingly inconsequential, something about their encounter lingers in Tom's mind.

Days later, while performing at a prestigious concert, Tom notices the same woman in the audience. Curiosity gets the better of him, and after the show, he decides to follow her. Tom's pursuit leads him through the vibrant city streets, until he eventually catches up with her.

When Tom finally confronts the woman, an unexpected chain of events is set into motion. As they engage in an intense conversation, the woman reveals an uncanny ability to mimic Tom's life—his routines, habits, and even his personal relationships. Intrigued and captivated, Tom begins to question his own identity and existence, as well as the limits of personal agency.

What starts as a mundane encounter on the subway spirals into a surreal and existential exploration of identity, free will, and the impact of chance. Tom becomes increasingly entangled in the woman's enigmatic life, blurring the boundaries between reality and performance. As their lives intertwine, he is pushed to confront his own desires, aspirations, and perhaps even his own fears.

Nimic combines Lanthimos' signature style of dark humor, absurdist storytelling, and thought-provoking dialogue. The film delves into the depths of the human psyche, challenging our understanding of self and the power dynamics at play within relationships. Through their encounter, Tom is forced to confront the nature of his own existence and the haunting notion that nothing in life may be as random as it seems.
