In the movie The Mule, based on a true story, the plot revolves around a man named Ray Jenkins, who finds himself caught up in a dangerous world of drug smuggling. Ray, portrayed by Clint Eastwood, is a Korean War veteran and a horticulturist living in Illinois, USA. Desperate for money to save his business from foreclosure and to support his estranged family, Ray unknowingly agrees to transport drugs for a Mexican cartel.

Ray travels to Australia as a courier for the cartel and unknowingly swallows packets of heroin hidden in condoms. However, his plans go awry when he is stopped by the Australian Federal Police at the airport.
