"The Skin of the Wolf" follows the solitary life of Martinón, a rugged and reclusive mountain dweller who lives in the remote village of Auzal. He leads a simple life, completely immersed in nature, hunting and trapping animals for survival. Having distanced himself from society, he only visits the nearby valleys twice a year to trade his goods and purchase essential supplies.

In an attempt to bring some warmth and human connection into his life, Martinón is persuaded by a neighbor to take a wife. Marrying the young woman, Lucía, he hopes that their companionship will alleviate his loneliness and soften his hardened soul. However, Lucía finds it challenging to adapt to the harshness of their isolated existence and her new husband's stoic demeanor.

As time passes, Martinón struggles to balance his primal instincts and loner tendencies with the responsibilities of being a husband and provider. The couple faces numerous hardships, including scarce resources, harsh weather conditions, and the constant threat of dangerous wild animals that inhabit the mountains.

Throughout the film, the story delves into the complex dynamics between Martinón and Lucía. Their relationship evolves from a tense and unbalanced arrangement into a deeper connection, borne out of shared hardships and the gradual discovery of each other's vulnerabilities. Martinón gradually opens up to Lucía, revealing his past traumas and inner struggles, while she learns to navigate the harsh realities of their isolated habitat.

"The Skin of the Wolf" serves as a poetic examination of human nature, capturing the raw beauty of nature's unforgiving landscapes and exploring the transformative power of love, companionship, and self-discovery. It portrays the protagonists' journey of self-acceptance and the challenging process of finding a balance between their inherent selves and the societal expectations imposed upon them.

As the couple faces increasing challenges and the depths of their isolation become more pronounced, Martinón and Lucía must confront their personal demons and make difficult choices about their future. The movie raises compelling questions about the human need for connection, the impact of solitude on the human psyche, and the delicate interplay between our primal instincts and our capacity for love and tenderness.
