In the movie Evil, set in Stockholm in the 1950s, the protagonist Erik Ponti is a bright but violent pupil who is expelled from his state school due to his aggressive behavior. The headmaster labels him as "evil" and suggests that he needs more physical punishment.

At home, Erik endures regular beatings from his sadistic stepfather, adding to his already troubled life. In an attempt to provide him with a fresh start and possibly some discipline, Erik's mother decides to send him to a strict boarding school.

At the boarding school, Erik finds himself surrounded by a challenging and competitive environment. He struggles to fit in and make friends, ostracized both by his classmates and teachers due to his troubled past and violent tendencies.

Despite this, Erik's intelligence and potential begin to shine through, catching the attention of his new literature teacher, Heckbert. The teacher recognizes Erik's talent for writing and tries to nurture it, encouraging him to participate in a school essay competition.

As Erik starts to explore his creative side, he also begins to question the oppressive and authoritarian atmosphere at the boarding school. He forms a close bond with his roommate, Pierre, who helps him navigate the complexities of their environment.

While grappling with his troubled past and trying to overcome the aggressive tendencies that society has labeled him with, Erik is faced with a moral decision when he uncovers a dark secret involving the school administration and their treatment of students.

Driven by a newfound sense of justice, Erik must confront his tormentors and find the courage to stand up against the oppressive systems in place. With the support of Pierre and his teacher Heckbert, Erik embarks on a journey of self-discovery, fighting against the evils that have shaped his life and those around him.

Evil is a powerful coming-of-age story that explores themes of violence, redemption, and the struggle for identity in a repressive society. It delves into the psychological and emotional turmoil of a young boy trying to find his place in a world that constantly labels him as "evil".
