In the movie "Passion of Mind," Marie, the widow in Provence, leads a double life in her dreams. In one reality, she is Marie, a mother of two daughters living in the tranquil countryside of Provence. In the other reality, she is Marty, a successful literary agent living a fast-paced life in bustling Manhattan.

Both women, Marie and Marty, look remarkably alike, which adds to the intrigue of the story. Marie's dreams are so vivid that she feels as though she is leading another life as Marty when she sleeps. Likewise, Marty experiences a parallel existence as Marie in her dreams.

As the story progresses, we see Marie meeting William, a charming man who begins to court her. Their relationship grows, but Marie remains hesitant about fully committing to him. On the other hand, Marty meets Aaron, an accountant, and they initially become friends. However, their friendship evolves into a passionate love affair.

Both women find solace in sharing their dream lives with their respective lovers. William becomes jealous of Marie's dreams about Marty, while Aaron accepts and supports Marty's dream life as Marie. This disparity in reactions highlights the contrasting nature of the relationships.

Though Marie and Marty have become romantically involved with their partners, Marie refuses to sleep next to William. She fears that her dream life as Marty will intrude upon their reality and complicate their relationship further. This fear prevents her from fully embracing her life with William.

In an attempt to escape her bewildering dreams, Marie decides to go on a holiday with William to Paris. However, as she tries to find an escape from her dual existence, Marty wakes up in Manhattan to find an ashtray from the Paris hotel on her nightstand. This peculiar occurrence adds to the confusion surrounding their identities and blurs the line between dreams and reality further.

The movie leaves open the question of whether Marie and Marty are the same person. While their striking resemblance suggests a possible connection, the nature of their shared dreams and the events unfolding in both realities remain ambiguous.

Throughout the film, the characters grapple with the idea of unlocking reality. Marie seeks to understand the true nature of her dreams, questioning whether they are merely figments of her imagination or provide a glimpse into a parallel existence. Ultimately, the movie explores the themes of identity, perception, and finding meaning in one's own reality.
