In Boruto: Naruto the Movie, the story follows Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto's rebellious and talented son. Boruto is determined to forge his own path and surpass his father's legacy, despite feeling neglected due to Naruto's busy schedule as the Hokage. Boruto resents the fact that Naruto prioritizes his duty over his family.

As Boruto enters the ninja academy, he befriends Sarada Uchiha, the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura. Boruto's desire to prove himself escalates when he discovers that Naruto's former rival, Sasuke, has become his father's trusted friend and mentor. Feeling the need to compete with Sasuke's own daughter, Sarada, Boruto challenges her to see who will first awaken their unique ninja ability, known as the "Byakugan."

As the Chunin Exams approach, Boruto, Sarada, and their friends participate in a series of tests that will determine their advancement as shinobi. However, the peaceful village is soon threatened by a mysterious villain known as Momoshiki Otsutsuki and his loyal companion Kinshiki. Their objective is to capture Naruto and steal his immense powers.

Boruto, sensing his father's imminent danger, teams up with Sasuke to rescue Naruto and protect the village from destruction. Along the way, Boruto learns the importance of teamwork, the sacrifices his father made for the village, and the true meaning of being a shinobi.

In their final battle, Boruto and his friends face overwhelming obstacles, testing their resolve and strength. With the combined efforts of the new generation and the old, they manage to defeat Momoshiki and bring peace back to the village.

Through this journey, Boruto not only gains a newfound appreciation for his father's struggles but also understands that surpassing him does not mean disregarding his teachings or neglecting his love for his family. The movie concludes with Boruto realizing the importance of forming his own path while staying true to the values that Naruto has instilled in him.
